Article by Wedding Planner & Photographer: Thysiamore Original

As a Bride to be, you have probably gone over a thousand times or more the kind of poses you want to strike for your wedding day.  This is particularly one topic you cannot turn a blind eye on, I have had my own share of daydreaming so much about the striking poses I will display in front of the camera, only to get to the Wedding day and all of sudden become so lost and confused as to whether to put my left feet in front, or the Right one, or take it to the side, in general it wasn’t what I envisioned to say the very least. If you get so much Nervous on your wedding day, this may even be worse.

Just like Practicing your dance routine for the wedding, it is also important to practice your posing styles.  The more acquainted you get with your posing styles, the less Nervous or confused you get, when it’s time to be around  a lot of people to take your bridal portraits.

Have you ever attempted to strike a very unique pose and someone laughed Sarcastically, ruining your mood or attempts? A very good tip will be to practice Posing styles with your Husband to be, and Asoebi train.  This helps to reduce shyness and gets you connected with some of the people you’ll likely see throughout the wedding day.

Strike a Pose #1

Olori ( a Name for Queens in Yoruba language): Typically you are in the spotlight of the wedding event.  Everything is about you and your spouse. You can start by unleashing your superhero, or Royal Queen look.  Just imagine that you are crowned the Queen of England . How would you carry yourself, walk, talk, sit, wave, look etc.  That’s the mood and spirit you want to be in on your Traditional wedding day in Cotonou

It entails putting your hands on your lap, one leg pushed slightly forward from the other, strutting with hips and chest pushed forward, you can have your hand fan and clutch on the other hand or over a wall or chair, this pose is usually with little or no smile worn on the face.

Her Royalty 1: This pose entails a sitting position specifically sitting up, with your hips strained in and head raised slightly up.  It is a firm pose, in which the hands can be clasped together on the belly area or clasps together on the laps like a queen. The legs will be joined together tilted to the side, or facing forward, the face can be tilted to both sides or facing front, you can also hold your clutch or do without it.  Perfect pose for your Traditional wedding in Cotonou.

Strike a Pose #9

Cinderella: the Cinderella pose entails a twist and turn in hand placement especially. This look is regal and helps display the bride’s figures perfectly.  A good way to practice this pose will be to play with your hands or pretend to be dancing Japanese, or Chinese hand dancing, also ballet hand practice will do. Winks!

Strike a Pose #10

Countess: of course will not conclude this article without mentioning the old do go two hands on the waist or hip pose.  This is a go to pose for a bride, in most cases the first pose a bride will do on her traditional wedding day. It’s a pose to try when you are trying to warm up for other poses, plus it does a great job in figure display. Definitely a must do for your traditional wedding ceremony in Cotonou.
