I understand how getting in front of the camera can be sometimes, especially when it’s not something you do often. Maybe you have plans to book for a photo session soon, or just go out there and create some contents with your mobile phone on the street, in a restaurant or any other public environment, but you are shy, you can’t get a hold of it, people staring, not getting your poses and your confidence right, in simple terms Just Shy. We will be looking at some tips and Tricks for photography for shy people, whether in a Studio Settings, outdoor shots, creating contents in Public Commercial places, street photography Etc.
Usually when people Term shy, its that they are not comfortable sitting in front of the camera, it could be because of environment, it could also be as a result of people staring, especially in public locations, a lot of the time it is because it is new to them, they don’t find themselves doing it more often. Some people can’t find themselves asking strangers on the walkway, or restaurant to take pictures of them, they are scared people asked might say NO, they are scared of what people think of them when they see them taking pictures, maybe they think my legs are too short, or my heels are outdated, or my dress doesn’t suit me, or my make up is terrible, and so on and so forth. In reality, I tell you those thoughts are just in your head only, people there are probably thinking about something else.
Photography Tips and Tricks for Shy People (Photoshoot in Cotonou).
Tip 1
Mirror yourself often: one way to get rid of camera shyness, is to mirror yourself more often. When mirroring yourself, you’ll definitely see some features about you that you feel you want to be better at, you may even tell yourself they are not good enough. The best way to eliminate shyness is to accept yourself just the way you are, improve on your self esteem, if there are things you wish to be better, make them better, workout more often, learn makeup suitable for your face shape, wear clothes to your fittings, and have your own uniqueness. When you are more confident, shyness reduces, your confidence gains boosts. Mirroring yourself is a good trick if you are shy to get in front of the camera.
Tip 2
Practice Selfies: try to take more selfies of yourself, with or without makeup, or a perfect hair. The more selfies of yourself you take, the more use to the camera you get, in no time you’ll confidently go out to public places or in a studio setting to take pictures without being shy. This is a great tip to stop feeling shy in front of the camera.
Tip 3:
Stay Comfortable: if you are having a Studio Session, stay comfortable. Make sure you are comfortable with your hair, makeup, and styling. Talk to your photographer about any arrangement you are not comfortable with, and be sure of what to except in the session.

Tip 4
Try Music: this is one thing I have noticed throughout my career as a photographer. Music changes everything especially when playing a client’s favorite song, from not being able to look at the camera, to suddenly vibing and posing to their favorite song. A very quick booster I would say. This is a great trick to not feel shy in front of the camera.

Tip 5
Carry along Positive People: When going out to take photos whether in the studio or on the street, take along anyone you know makes you feel positive, can hype you, patience enough to take you pictures, and a risk taker, because they can literally boost your mood and take you pictures in a place that says “No Pictures” just to boost your morale. This is a great trick to stop feeling shy in front of the camera.
Tip 6
Take Pictures more Often: take a lot of pictures, especially with your phone, take pictures around your family and friends too, and look at them, get others to look at them too, trying poses like side looking, face away from camera, hand blocking face stylishly, backing the camera stylishly, walking away, trying blocking the camera screen, using props uniquely to block your face etc. post on social media too.
