I do hear people sometimes say “I Would really love to take some photos, but I am just not Photogenic enough”.  Well Darling it’s that you are not photogenic, it’s that there are steps to take with little or no effort to look photogenic, and lucky you for stumping on this article.

In this article, I am giving you first hand experience of what I have done to make my clients look photogenic even when they give me the popular shy quote “ I am not photogenic”.  I have even worked with a lot of Girls who are not Professional Models, but after applying these steps I will outline in this Article, they instantly appear to be superModels.  I usually tell my clients and people around me that everyone has their SuperModel persona, you just need to press the right buttons to unleash them.

I Will also outline that Photogenic peculiarity is different from person to person, features vary and so do those outcomes. For example if your favorite model or influencer’s smile makes them look photogenic, that’s their kind of smile, your kind of smile could also be another variation of what makes a photogenic photo, and so on with other features.  So do not feel less of yourself if your smile outcome doesn’t look like theirs.

Tips to Look Photogenic on Camera

Tip #1

Embrace your Features:  Be confident about your looks.  I have seen how things can evolve and your specularity might just be the next trending thing.  Its okay to try to look like one of your role models, but make it an inspiration for yourself and not a do or die affair. Making it an inspiration, will make you stand out in your own style, making it just another version of them will make you unsatisfied and frustrated.

Tip #2

Wear Good Makeup: be sure to get yourself a great makeup artist who understands skin work for the shoot.  Neutral Makeup is one of the makeup trends today and I find a lot of Ladies to be pretty comfortable with it.  Get your makeup artist to make a before and after video and photograph of you, it helps uplift your spirit before the shoot.  Also know that you are beautiful without makeup too.

Tip #3

Work on your Natural Skin: Sometimes some people do not want to wear makeup for their shoot, all they want is natural skin.  A really bad skin could take away photogenicity in your photographs because you find photographers trying to retouch excessively to get you a blemish free skin.  Adapt a skin care routine to take away skin problems like pimples, acne, under eye bags, eye redness, patchy skin etc.  freckles, birthmarks, texture etc are great for natural photogenic photos, so if you have them, love them.

Tip #4

Wear Fitting Clothes and Colors: well how do I know my fitting colors? Start by experimenting with different styles and colors and see the most you are comfortable in, consult with a stylist for the shoot or your photographer, to see how well the color suits you on camera.

Tip #5 

Your Hairstyle Should Speak Luxury:  and no you do not need to break the bank for this.  Not all hair styles fit, not even the trendy ones.  Make sure to make a hairstyle that fits you and you can be comfortable in , again consult your photographer or stylist before shooting time.

Tip #6

Pose Naturally: take your photo shoot session as an experience, feel every moment, express yourself, flow when posing,   I  usually do the left – right – tip toe posing with my clients it makes it pretty easy for them to flow, in no time they are already flowing in different poses.

Tip #7

Smile: I found out that no matter how much of a supermodel you want to look, the smiling photos in most cases take the trophy. Do a pose smiling and another without compare to see which best expresses you.
